She Sells Seashells
The shells in this collection represent the fragility of nature, its beauty and its form. Shells in my work also represent the fragility of woman, both her physical body, and often her self-worth, and self-image. Particularly in a time where social media vanity is on the increase, often curated creation of the ‘perfect’, albeit a façade. Shells are a symbol associated with the goddess of beauty and fertility “Venus” who is often symbolised in art history as either a naked female, or a shell.
This original painting measures 122cm x 92cm on a double-thick canvas which is varnished, strung and ready to hang on the wall.
Original artwork on stretched canvas.
